Seba Dalkai, Arizona · Established 2026

A Diné family cattle operation on the range at Seba Dalkai, Arizona.

Big Water Diné Ranch runs a cow-calf herd on family range in the Teesto–Seba Dalkai country of the Navajo Nation. The cattle and the knowledge behind them are not new here; the same family has worked this range across generations. In 2026 the operation was organized as a limited liability company so the herd, its income, and its future can be managed as a business and carried to the next generation.

Tótsohnii means Big Water. It is the owner's clan and the name the ranch runs under.

What we sell

Marketed through regional livestock auctions, with settlement records kept for every sale.

Weaned calves

Spring calves weaned and sorted into even groups by weight and type before they go to the ring.

Yearling & feeder cattle

Grown out on native range and marketed by the hundredweight to order buyers and feedlots.

Cull cows & bulls

Offered as herd management requires, culled on age, soundness and performance.

How we run it

Range first, then the herd.

Carrying capacity sets herd size here, not the market. Grazing rotation, water hauling and development, fencing and corrals are all handled on place, under Navajo Nation grazing regulations and the district grazing committee. In a dry year the right decision is to destock rather than overgraze, and we make it.

The herd is built from retained heifers rather than purchased cattle wherever the range allows. Individual identification, vaccination dates, weaning weights and sale results are recorded for every head.
